What is Fort Worth Fordite? Why is it rarer than Detroit Agate?
Accumulated layers of paint over decades from the Automotive refinishing process, not mass produced, no automation, each layer applied by hand in a professional AkzoNobel Refinish Training Facility in Fort Worth Texas.
Fordite from a PROFESSIONAL training facility is much more rare than traditional Automotive agate, unique because instead of Automated painting of thousands of cars over a relatively short period of time, EACH LAYER takes up to 1 entire WEEK to form.
Paint buildup is slower, often in a wider range of wildly contrasting colors in combinations that aren't found in standard refinish process. Training Facilities are also cleaned on a much more regular basis, meaning accumulation of layers takes much much longer, & much less surfaces for the paint to build on.
Pieces listed will be priced per specific piece / pair.
These are delicate items & care must be taken if altering in any way. Do not overheat, soak for extended periods of time, avoid solvent baths or harsh chemicals. These are hand polished, not clear coated, it is automotive paint, however strong, it can still be damaged if care isn't taken. approximate measurements and weights are as follows.
